Letter: Why I'm voting for Gary Johnson

While I don't consider Gary Johnson to be a "real" Libertarian because he doesn't believe in the NIFF or NAP concepts that define the Libertarian platform he certainly is better the Democratic crook Hillary Clinton and the Republican crook Donald Trump who are both running for President. (NIFF - Non-Initiation of Force or Fraud and NAP - Non-Aggression Principle)

In this letter to the editor Elizabeth Crounse points out that under Gary Johnson we would only pay an outrageous 23% income tax.

Almost makes you cry when you realize the 1st US income tax form the income tax started out at a lousy 1% and the highest tax was 6%.

They actually argued in the US Congress about capping the income tax at 10%, because they thought if it ever got that high, it would be an outrageous rip off.

Of course now even if you make min wage, the Feds shake you down and try to withhold 10% of your wages.

Also the 1st US Income Tax only applied to rich people that made $3,000 or more. In 2016 dollars min $3,000 income would be about $50,000 to $60,000.

For more on those figures see this IRS website with a copy of the first 1913 US Income tax form on it. It was a lousy 4 pages long and included everything I just said.

Here is link to the form:

https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-utl/1913.pdf
And remember, that's a US Government website. Not a crazy Libertarian anti-government website!!!!

If you read the history books you will find that the income tax started out as a "soak the rich tax" which was designed to make rich people pay the cost of running the Federal government. Of course the US Income Tax has evolved into a soak everybody tax.

Letter: Why I'm voting for Gary Johnson

The Republic | azcentral.com 12:37 a.m. MST September 11, 2016

As a former New Mexico resident who lived under Gary Johnson's entire tenure as governor from 1995 to 2003, I can attest to his leadership, common sense and concern for his constituents.

He was one of the most fiscally conservative governors, a Republican TWICE elected in a heavily blue state that is two-to-one Democrat. He vetoed over 750 bills meant to help special interests, he did not raise taxes and he left the state with a balanced budget.

Imagine life without the IRS, without income tax. Imagine only having to pay a flat 23 percent consumption tax for nonessential items. Imagine paying taxes on only what YOU choose to purchase. Imagine a country in which our constitutionally protected civil liberties are taken seriously.

I implore you to give him an honest gander. He could upset the election!
