Where's the tolerance for homophobic Michael Nowakowski?

Donald Appel doesn't seem to have figured out that Phoenix City Councilman Michael Nowakowski is a double talking hypocrite who will say anything to get your vote.

And while Donald Appel doesn't seem to understand the hysteria caused by a video of Michael Nowakowski I certainly do.

I wouldn't vote for anyone who thinks that the government should treat gays as second class citizens. Nor would I vote for anybody who wants to use the government to shove their Catholic religion down my throat.

Letter: Where's the tolerance for Michael Nowakowski?

Phoenix City Councilman Michael Nowakowski's full statement and apology regarding his LGBT comments

Reading about the hysteria caused by a video of City Councilman Michael Nowakowski talking about his beliefs in a meeting of Christian pastors made me think.

Mr. Nowakowski is a devout Catholic and as such may choose to honor the church’s beliefs. On this day he chose to speak out to like-minded people to express his doubts.

Yet time and time again he has voted to support gay rights as noted in The Republic. Sometimes it must be hard to be a politician; you are tasked with upholding the laws and yet you have the right to have you own opinions.

Sadly, for this one group is now talking about mounting a recall campaign against this gentleman for nothing more than expressing his deeply held beliefs. More and more tolerance seems a one-way street; sadly, if it becomes a one-way street, it is no longer tolerance.
