Mesa Police surf the internet and pose as horny teenagers who want to have sex with older men?

Most of these sex stings are a blatant form of entrapment by the police.

The cops place thinly veiled ads offering offering the services of prostitutes who are 18 years old and then pose as horny hookers who love to have sex with older men.

At the last minute the cops usually change to age of the imaginary prostitute to make her 14 years old so the john can be slapped with felony charges, instead of misdemeanor charges which would be if the hooker was of legal age.

The cops usually wait till the last minute to tell the john that the imaginary hooker is a 14 year old because that gives the john less time to back out.

Oddly in this case the age the cops used of the imaginary hooker was 16 rather then 14.

I think these ads were placed by the Mesa Police in the backpage.com section of the Phoenix New Times.

If you ask me these stings are a huge waste of our tax dollars. Just like arresting marijuana users are.

I wonder if Jennifer White will attack me for this post, because I think that prostitution should be legal.

Source5 arrested in 'Wild Fire' underage-sex sting in Mesa

Marcus Garcia, 24, was arrested on suspicion of attempting to pay for sex with a minor, police said. Mesa Police Department

The Mesa Police Department arrested five suspects Wednesday in connection with an operation to catch people soliciting minors for sex on backpage.com, officials said.

Arrested in the operation were Steve Schroeder, 57, of Scottsdale; Federico Lopez, 37, of Maricopa; Markque Simon, 34, of Queen Creek; Marcus Garcia, 24, and Andrew Draayer, 28, whose cities of residence were not available, according to Berry.

The operation, dubbed "Wild Fire," consisted of an undercover Mesa police officer posing as a 16-year-old girl who was offering sex acts for pay in the "escorts" section of backpage.com, a popular classified-advertising website, according to Mesa police spokesman Detective Steve Berry.

All five men have since been released on their own recognizance and are expected to appear in court on May 19.

According to Mesa police, each man had been informed numerous times that they would be paying for sex with a 16-year-old girl before and after they arrived at the hotel near Southern Avenue and Alma School Road. [I suspect the police are lying about this. Usually the cops change the age of the imaginary prostitute at the last minute to 14 to give the john less time to backout. In the case the cops used the age of 16 for the imaginary hookers]

Police said Lopez made arrangements by phone just after 1 p.m. to pay $120 for sex with the teen. He arrived at the hotel less than 5 minutes later and was taken into custody, according to court records.

Schroeder responded to the backpage.com ad in a text message at about 1:30 p.m. and agreed to pay $100 for sex, according to police. He was arrested shortly after arriving at the hotel about 50 minutes later, according to court records.

Police said Simon also made arrangements by phone at about 11:30 a.m. About 10 minutes later, he was at the hotel and under arrest, according to court records. Police said Simon agreed to pay $120 for 30 minutes of sex with an underage teen.

Lopez, Schroeder and Simon were arrested on suspicion of child prostitution, money laundering and pandering.

Garcia was arrested on suspicion of child prostitution, money laundering, pandering and furnishing harmful items to a minor, which consisted of naked selfies he thought he was giving to a 16-year-old girl, according to Berry.

Draayer was arrested on suspicion of prostitution due to the fact that he attempted to cancel the deal when he arrived, saying the girl was "too young," according to Berry. [I bet if this goes to trial, we will find out the cops didn't tell Draayer that the imaginary prostitute was 16, until Draayer got the hotel]
