Arizona Republicans used dirty tricks to keep Libertarians from running for office.

I don't know what the actual percent was which the Republicans used in this law, so I used 1% (.01) and one half percent (.005) as an example to show how the law makes it almost impossible for Libertarians and Greens to run for public office in Arizona.

Republicans pass law making it impossible for Libertarians to run for office in Arizona.

A few years back Libertarian Powell Gammill ran for office and because Libertarians tend to steal votes from Republicans Powell Gammill caused Republican candidate Vernon B. Parker to lose to Democrat tax and spend socialist Kyrsten Sinema in the US Congress.

As a result of that the Republicans passed a law which for all practical purposes make it impossible for Libertarians to run for office in Arizona.

At last nights Liberation Party meeting I learned the dirty tricks the Arizona Republican Party used to screw the Libertarians out of their right to run for office.

I guess you could use Mark Twain's quote of

"There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics"
to describe the tactic the Republicans used.

Prior to that each political party had to get x percent signatures to run for office.

If you used 1% for the number then Republicans and Democrats would each have to get about 11,000 and 9,000 signatures to run for the office of Governor.

While Libertarian and Greens would have to get about 250 and 45 signatures to run for the office of Governor.

The Republicans used the fact that there are just about as many people registered as Independents as there are Democrats and Republicans to do their dirty tricks against the Libertarians and prevent them from running for office.

Of course Independents out number Libertarians by a factor of 50, and the Republicans used that that to screw the Libertarians.

The Republicans then said new base for the number of signatures needed to run for office would be calculated by adding the number of members in YOUR party to the number of people registered as Independent.

For Republicans and Democrats that roughly doubled the number used for their base calculations.

For Libertarians that increased the the number used for their base calculations by a factor of 50 times.

Next the Republicans halved the percent they originally used from say 1% to 1/2 of a percent.

Now for both the Republicans and Democratic parties that made the number of signatures required to run for office roughly the same.

Their base numbers doubled, and the percent halved.

Of course since the base for the Libertarian was increased by a factor of 47, and the percent halfed, it increased the number of signatures needed for Libertarian to run for office by a factor of 23.

And of course that has prevented any Libertarians from running for office in the 2016 election cycle.

The Green Party got screwed even more. Their base was increased by a factor of 262, and the percent halved, it increased the number of signatures needed for Green to run for office by a factor of 132.

And of course that has prevented any Greens from running for office in the 2016 election cycle.

Let's fact it government isn't about being a public servant of the people. Government is all about power and money.

That case was argued in Federal court today. The Libertarians hope these dirty sleazy slimy tricks played by the Republicans will be declared unconstitutional.

Of course don't count on it. I believe the courts have ruled that the sleazy slimy tactic of Gerrymandering is constitutional.

Say a state has a population of 1 million voters with 50 percent Democrats and 50 percent Republicans is divided into 10 voting districts.

A fair way to divide up the state would be to cut it into 10 districts each with 100,000 voters consisting of 50,000 Democrats and 50,000 Republicans.

But with Gerrymandering for the Republicans to gain control of the state would divide it up into 10 districts.

Seven of the districts would have 60,000 Republicans in them and 40,000 Democrats in them. Republicans will then win elections in 70% of the state. Despite the fact that Republicans only have 50% of the states population.

The other three districts would have 27,000 Republicans and 73,000 Democrats. And Democrats would win elections in 30% of the state, despite having 50% of the states population.
