Robert Fern points out that drug war nut jobs Sheila Polk and Seth Leibsonh are habitual liars on the subject of marijuana.
Letter: Marijuana is dangerous? Check your stats Robert Fern 3:38 p.m. MST February 17, 2016 Sheila Polk and Seth Leibsonh called EJ Montini "vague" when he earlier accused them of "blowing smoke" in the current marijuana legalization debate. To refute Mr. Montini and demonstrate just how dangerous marijuana actually is, they presented several "facts" conducted by two groups (SAMHSA/HIDTA). It should be noted that these groups are specifically funded to produce only anti-marijuana information. Other studies and statements referred to indicate only minimal risk, especially when compared to other substances available in our state. The ultimate measure of severe risk is death. Here are the statistics of annual deaths in the U.S., according to the Centers for Disease Control -- prescription opioids, 20,000 deaths; alcohol, 88,000 deaths; tobacco, 480,000 deaths; marijuana, 0 deaths. I do feel some sympathy for Sheila and Seth. They have the impossible job of trying to re-create a Reefer Madness scenario in today's current climate of factual information. — Robert Fern, Show Low
