Since last December, the southern country has legislation permitting the production and sale of drugs derived from the hemp plant, a rule that have recently also adopted countries such as Puerto Rico and Colombia, and mentions RPP.

"The goal of this project is to generate three large clinical studies will be developed by the National Cancer Institute and two hospitals ... Marzo es el mes destinado para cosechar el primer cultivo de marihuana para uso medicinal, ubicado en la zona rural del sur de Chile, muy cerca de Los Andes.

Según menciona el portal ABC, Chile fue el primer país en Latinoamérica en cultivar plantas de cannabis para este fin, con un proyecto que comenzó en el municipio santiaguino de La Florida en 2014 para abastecer a 200 pacientes de cáncer.

Con la autorización del gobierno de dicho país, esta iniciativa busca transformar la plantación en distintos fitofármacos que serán suministrados de manera gratuita a 4 mil pacientes de esta terrible enfermedad.

Desde el pasado mes de diciembre, el país austral dispone de una legislación que autoriza la elaboración y venta de medicamentos derivados de la planta del cáñamo, una norma que recientemente han adoptado también países como Puerto Rico y Colombia, así lo menciona RPP.

"El objetivo de este proyecto es generar tres grandes estudios clínicos que serán desarrollados por el Instituto Nacional del Cáncer y dos hospitales… Creemos que este es un paso importante para avanzar en Chile en la generación de ciencia y conocimiento sobre la terapia del cannabis", señaló a Efe, Ana María Gazmuri, presidenta de la Fundación Daya, una organización dedicada a la promoción e investigación de terapias alternativas.

Cabe mencionar que dicha investigación, cuenta con el apoyo financiero de 20 municipios de Chile, y busca brindar grandes beneficios a pacientes con problemas oncológicos, pero también a los que padecen de epilepsia refractaria y diversos dolores crónicos.
