Arizona Capitol store may sell beer, wine

More of the old "Do as I say, not as I do" from our religious leaders, government masters and police???

The message we get from our elected officials is that liquor is bad, bad, bad. But when it comes to the government making a little money of liquor it's good, good, good.

F*ck these 2 faced government hypocrites.

Wonder if they will be selling medical and recreational marijuana next???

Arizona Capitol Museum Store may soon sell alcohol

The quaint Arizona Capitol Museum Store may soon sell more than Arizona-themed mementos like socks and key chains.

By the end of November — just in time for the next legislative session — the store could stock wine and beer. Not that alcohol has been in short supply around the Senate or House of Representatives. Insider has spotted many a red Solo cup during the long nights of sober, er, harried law-making.

The alcohol sold at the store would be produced by Arizona wineries and breweries, said Matt Roberts, spokesman for the Secretary of State's Office, which oversees the store.

"The secretary feels strongly that the Arizona Capitol Museum Store should rep all the great things Arizona has to offer, and some of those things include beer and wine," said Roberts, who frequently enjoys Arizona-brewed beer. "Oftentimes tourists get off the tour bus and go into the store. Any time we can promote Arizona, that's something we're going to try to do."

Roberts said the alcohol sold at the store is not supposed to be consumed at the Capitol: Similar to alcohol sold at grocery stores, the product is supposed to be taken elsewhere for consumption. Roberts said he didn't foresee problems with people drinking at the Capitol, because Arizona prohibits consumption of alcohol in state buildings. (Insider isn't sure what to say to that.)

The store applied for a series-10 beer and wine store license, and the state has 105 days to process the application, said Denise Archibald, a license services supervisor with the Phoenix Clerk's Office. The City Council is tentatively scheduled to consider the application Oct. 5, she said. The state Liquor Board will then consider the matter.

The store could get the license as soon as late November, Archibald said. So far, there has been no opposition to the application, she said.
