Federal busts are mostly for victimless drug war crimes???
This lying article starts out by claiming the Feds have been making the streets safer by removing violent criminals from the streets. But when you read the find print you find out that most of the people arrested were arrested for victimless drug war crimes. 85 of the 195 arrests were for victimless drug war crimes. So about 43% of the people arrested were not really criminals, but political prisoners. It's time we demand that the government end the "war on drugs" and stop arresting people for victimless "Drug War Crimes".
Two murder suspects among 195 Valley fugitives arrested Garrett Mitchell, The Republic | azcentral.com 10:43 a.m. MST September 10, 2016 The U.S. Marshals Service reported Saturday morning it has arrested 195 fugitives, including two murder suspects, in a nearly two-month operation in the Valley. The effort, dubbed "Operation Summer Burn," was concentrated in west Phoenix and central Chandler and aimed to improve public safety by focusing on apprehending violent or repeat offenders in areas with historically high gang activity, the Marshals Service said in a statement. The operation occurred between July 12 and Sept. 2 and combined efforts from numerous law enforcement agencies. The initial 195 arrests also included three on kidnapping charges, 25 on both aggravated assault and sex offense charges and 85 on drug offense charges. In addition, 257 warrants were cleared and 22 other arrests were made for offenses including theft, burglary and obstruction of justice. The effort prioritized the identification and documentation of gang members, which may assist local law enforcement in preventing offenses connected to a gang's criminal enterprise. Forty-eight of those apprehended were determined to be associates or members of criminal street gangs. Property seized in the arrests included $13,400 in cash and 22 firearms along with more than a pound and a half of marijuana, 15 grams of cocaine, 65.79 grams of heroin and a little more than 14 grams of methamphetamine. "Operation Summer Burn 2016 was an enforcement initiative designed to target and reduce gang activity and violent crime in the heart of Phoenix,” said U.S. Marshal David Gonzales. “The arrest of 195 fugitives demonstrates the successful outcome of a focused effort to arrest violent offenders and reduce future crime victims. The arrests included 48 gang members and the removal of 22 firearms off our streets. Organized street gangs continue to be a major problem in our communities and the U.S. Marshals Service, working with our state and local partners, will continue to make them a high priority in our enforcement efforts.” Law-enforcement agencies that aided the marshals included Phoenix, Glendale, Surprise, Chandler police and the Arizona Department of Public Safety. They were additionally assisted by the Maricopa County Attorney's Office, Adult Probation and the Arizona Department of Corrections. Last summer, a similar operation called Operation GRIT 2015 netted 180 gang-related arrests as part of a series of expansive efforts conducted multiple times a year. |
