This is an add from a company that makes equipment to use butane to extract THC, CBD and other chemicals from marijuana leaf. The have several offices in California. This is from the folks in the Rancho Cucamonga store which is in the LA Metro area. 9047 Arrow RouteI saw these folks at the ERRL cup. This stuff isn't cheap, I think their smallest set of machines or equipment costs $3000 and that's before you add the pumps, compressors and evaporators. I think they said they have an operations demo every Saturday at this store in the LA area which shows how to operate the machines. The machines are not only for extracting TCH from marijuana, but are just generic machines using butane to act as a solvent and extract chemicals from other things. I talked to the guy and he gave me an overview of how the machinery is used to extract THC from marijuana and it was an interesting talk. The scanner at the Tempe Library is on drugs, and it only grabbed the top half of the 2nd photo. After looking at this I suspect that extracting THC, CBD and other chemicals from marijuana is pretty safer if you use their machinery and take decent safety precautions. But anytime you are dealing with flammable explosive chemicals like butane gas, i'm sure accidents can and will happen.
At the ERRL cup I also say another business that sold presses that are used to squeeze the THC and CBD out of marijuana. They are basically a pair of hydraulic jacks that squeeze 2 heated metal plates together. Marijuana is placed between two waxed papers, and then put between the two heated steel plates. When the hydraulic jacks squeeze the 2 heated steal plates together the THC and other chemicals is pressed out of the marijuana and on to the wax paper. When the wax paper is removed from the press you use a razor blade to scrape off the THC.
